Cornell University alumni invited to design furniture that blends Asia and New York

Two designs studios spearheaded by alumni of Cornell University College of Architecture, Art and Planning have collaborated to create a furniture series specifically for the department. The 12-piece series centers on the combination of Asian sensibility and the fast-paced, highly-functioning New York lifestyle.

William Lim, founder of Hong Kong-based architecture firm CL3, along with Vincent Lim and Elaine Lu, founding partners of design studio Lim + Lu created modular furniture that can transform various shapes and carry out different functions. The push cart idea, a staple in Asian countries, is one brilliant example of the two cultures merged for this project. The two studios aim to recreate globalization using the principles they have learned at the university.

The furniture has been finished last May of 2017 and is made with powder coated stainless steel and vinyl upholstery.
