Dark, monochromatic worlds of a supernatural nature

Lauren Fensterstock is the sculptor behind a number of monochromatic worlds fashioned from paper and plexiglass. Her installations are site-specific and are meticulously crafted from cut and curled paper, plexiglass, and even charcoal. The floral and garden scenes are breathtaking in their intricacies, depicting grass, ponds, flowers, and more.

The sculptures show scenes reminiscent of French and English garden designs from the 1500s through the 1700s, while also incorporating the 18th-century practice of quilling. The artist is based in Portland, Maine, and studied at the Parsons School of Design as well as SUNY New Paltz, and has been a visiting faculty member at the Rhode Island School of Design.
