David Shannon’s popular children’s book illustrations on display at Muskegon Museum

David Shannon only knew how to spell the words “No, David!” when he first started writing and illustrating books at age 5. These words were also reminiscent of his childhood as he originally drawn pictures of him doing things he was not supposed to do in real life. Fast-forward to many years later, the children’s book became a classic and remained one of the most iconic and bestsellers of its genre.

The Muskegon Museum of Art in Michigan has collaborated with David Shannon for the exhibit “David Goes to the Museum: Illustrations by David Shannon.” The event showcases 75 of Shannon’s original works done for children’s books. Some of these are from his David series including “David Gets in Trouble,” “It’s Christmas, David!” and “David Goes to School.” There will also be a Kid’s Poetry Open Mic Night for kids to listen to and share their favorite poems. And a guided tour of the whole exhibit.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

The iconic illustrations, which undoubtedly will be enjoyed by both kids and adults, will be on display at Muskegon Museum until April 16, 2017.
