The tumblr blog Hexeosis has a title that sounds like it’s a type of disease. But rather than being a sickness such as tuberculosis, this project is focused on the six-sided shape, the hexagon. The suffix “-osis” indicates a condition or state, especially an abnormal state. Who knew that an abnormal state of excessive hexagons could look so good.
In the series of images, the six-sided shapes are stacked, overlaid, expanded, and moved across each image square. The results of these multicolored movements are a visual delight, dazzling, and at times, overwhelming. Filled with patterns and bright colors, the looping animations are new media forms that reference the psychedelia of another decade.
