Join us for a special dinner at Ray’s & Stark Bar at LACMA, presented in conjunction with Dining with the Sultan: The Fine Art of Feasting, an exhibition of Islamic art that emphasizes a practice shared by all cultures—feasting—and reminds us of our own sense of pleasure in dining with friends and family.

You’ll have a rare opportunity to feast on dishes from 9th-century Baghdad, 13th-century Andalusia, and 15th-century Cairo. Professor Daniel L. Newman, Chair of Arabic Studies at the University of Durham, UK, and noted authority on medieval Arab cooking, will also be on hand to explain and discuss these specially recreated dishes.

The dinner will be preceded by a private tour of Dining with the Sultan led by exhibition curator Linda Komaroff.
