Disturbing photos of people lying in a week’s worth of their own trash

It is difficult to comprehend large quantities of things that are not immediately tangible. Like how much money a billion dollars REALLY is or, in the case of this photo series, how much trash we consume on a weekly basis. Gregg Segal gives us a unique look at this idea through his series ‘7 Days of Garbage.’

This slightly disturbing collection shows people lying in a week’s worth of their own filth. A striking aspect of these images is that the people begin to actually look like a part of the pile of trash they are lying in. Segal’s photos are humiliating and maybe aim to make us think twice before throwing away loads of rubbish. If I had to lay in my filth each trash day I would definitely be cutting down!
