Documentary about artist Eva Hesse hits the big screen

A new documentary is looking at taking a look back at the life and work of artist Eva Hesse who died in 1970 at age 34, after making significant contributions to the field of sculpture and prompting art tends to go beyond minimalism into what is now known as post-minimalism.

Director Marcie Begleiter’s newly released documentary offers a unique insight into the artist’s life and work by pulling from Hesse’s own journals and letters. The documentary also looks to archival footage and current interviews with her contemporaries, such as artists Richard Serra, Nancy Holt, and Carl Andre.
