In addition to the annual formats such as “Design in the City”, the CIS-Design Battle and exhibitions in designforum Steiermark and Hollenegg Castle for Design, the UNESCO City of Design Istanbul 2019 is close cooperation partner of Creative Industries Styria. Within the framework of two program points of Design Month Graz it is possible to get acquainted with the design landscape of the Turkish capital. Another fixed program is the Designfestival assembly, which focuses on fashion design.

Does design need a gender assignment? When is design “female” or “male”? It is a fact that design determines the consciousness and the consciousness determines the design. Design and product design is a story full of misunderstandings and clichés – especially when it comes to gender. And after all, it’s about stuff. In 2019, the focus of Design Month Graz will be on “Women & Design”.
Last year, Design Month Graz broke all previous records with 100,000 visitors at 121 events, workshops and exhibitions within 30 days. Organised and coordinated by the Creative Industries Styria (CIS), the Month of Design is not only a celebration nor is it just a showcase. It is a platform to connect, to be(come) visible and to emphasise the importance of design for everyday life and the economic relevance of creative processes, while involving local, national and international partners.
