Dreamy illustrations of the misadventures of two scouts inspired from a broken marriage

Todd Baxter, the brainchild behind the idea of the photo series called “Owl Scouts: Lost in the Woods,” was going through a tough divorce when he created the illustrations. It depicts two young children geared with adventure essentials who brave through the forest together, hand in hand. They stumble upon complications and trials along the way yet eventually torn apart by natural calamities.

The photo collection is a string of somewhat humorous yet almost magical and dreamy illustrations of the misadventures of the two scouts. It starts off bright and promising, yet the audience is blown away by the gruesome yet inevitable ending.

Linking his divorce to his art, Baxter explains, “Not surprisingly, I found myself ruminating on what kills a marriage – all the little challenges and failures that add up to its ultimate failure.”
