In his stellar body of work, photographer Daniel Greenwood creatively combines three of his lifelong fascinations: space, stars, and video games. Inspired by this trio of muses, he captures mesmerizing shots of otherworldly landscapes.
In each of his dazzling photographs, Greenwood showcases the beauty of the earth after dark. With subjects ranging from waterfalls and lakes to sunflowers and succulents, these photos illustrate the diversity of the natural world. When set against backdrops composed of crystal clear clusters of stars, dramatic meteor showers, and dreamy clouds at twilight, these earthly sites take on a transcendent appearance.
While Greenwood has always been in awe of outer space, he notes that his interest in the cosmos eventually intensified—and culminated in his craft. “Nearly three years ago I noticed this on going obsession to witness amazing moments that nature presented humanity with,” he explains. “This obsession soon began my career as a landscape photographer to send me off into unknown places and vast beautiful landscapes.”
Now that his career has taken off, Greenwood continues to fuel his passion by collaborating with other likeminded photographers. Together, they’ve created Luminary Light Collective, a group that aims to “take others into some of the most vast untouched lands, to share the meaning of connecting with nature and the beautiful planet” with each and every out-of-this-world photo.
