Dripping portraits explore creative techniques in pixels and paint

Colombian artist Marcello Castellani creates paintings using a combination of digital tools and traditional media. He mimics the dripping properties of paint in his digital renderings. Not surprisingly, Castellani is inspired by painting masters like Van Gogh, Dali and Alberto Giacometti.

In his first solo exhibition called ‘Hilados’ (Spun) Castellani explores the deconstruction of photographic images through pixels. In the images below you can see his paintings, some digital and some brushed by hand, but it is difficult to tell the two techniques apart. You see more of Castellani’s work and process on his website.
