Join artist and art educator Sydney Snyder to learn about inclusive model practices, universal design for learning, disability visibility, and strategies and tools for reaching students of all physical and intellectual abilities. Pulling from nearly seven years of experience collaborating with occupational, speech, and physical therapists, special education teachers, general education teachers, students, and parents, Sydney will share small steps all teachers can take to create more inclusive, accessible classroom environments.
Sydney Snyder is a multi-disciplinary artist and art educator in Los Angeles. This is her tenth year teaching art in a school setting. Sydney works with students of all intellectual and physical abilities at an inclusive model charter. In addition to facilitating adaptive art practices to ensure art is accessible to all her students, Sydney oversees a TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) studio in which students have access to a wide variety of mediums and can create art about any subject they choose while learning the Studio Habits of Mind. She also works as a co-conspirator at Adding Voices with founder Flavia Zuñiga-West, creating culturally responsive curriculum resources, editing newsletters, and organizing events.
