Elon Musk’s Ex Sells College Photos and Memorabilia for $165,000 at Auction

Photos and memorabilia sold by an ex-girlfriend of Tesla CEO Elon Musk from their college years went for $165,000 at a Boston auction house last week.

Boston-based RR Auction, which focuses on rare memorabilia related to historical figures, sold the items Thursday, which had belonged to Musk’s college girlfriend, Jennifer Gwynne. Musk and Gwynne dated for one year between 1994 and 1995 while undergraduates at the University of Pennsylvania, before later falling out of touch.

Musk’s personal life has been the subject of recent media attention amid his highly public feud with Twitter over a disputed $44 billion deal to buy the social media company. A trial overseeing the acquisition’s terms is scheduled to take place in mid-October.

Gwynne told The Boston Globe she decided to sell the items after becoming aware of an auction of test papers the tech mogul graded — realizing there was an active market for Musk-related memorabilia.

A gold-chained necklace with a green emerald that Musk gifted Gwynne in 1994 sold for $51,000. Photographs of Musk and Gwynne posing together and others with their school peers sold for prices between $1,900 and to $42,000.
