Era-defining works by Mexican masters Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo and José Clemente Orozco stop over at Dallas Museum of Art

The travelling exhibit “México 1900–1950: Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, José Clemente Orozco, and the Avant-Garde” has made an exclusive US stop at the Dallas Museum of Art. The show is an expansive retrospective of the works of the said Mexican modernism greats, along with those of the trailblazers of the movement who aren’t as widely known.

The exhibition, which debuted in October last year at the Grand Palais in Paris, features more than 200 paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, and films that were produced during, and defined, the so-called Mexican Renaissance. The show, which opened on March 12 at the DMA, will run at the museum until July 16 before moving on to its next stop.

“The DMA has a rich history of collecting and presenting Mexican art, and this exhibition offers our visitors the opportunity to explore in-depth the diverse and vibrant voices that distinguish Mexican art during the first half of the 20th century,” said Agustín Arteaga, the show’s curator.
