LACMA members are invited to join FILM at LACMA for a special in-person screening of Oppenheimer, with a pre-screening Q&A with sound designer Richard King, re-recording mixer Kevin O’Connell, and production sound mixer Willie Burton.

During World War II, Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appoints physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb. Their work comes to fruition on July 16, 1945, as they witness the world’s first nuclear explosion, forever changing the course of history.

Oppenheimer is nominated for 13 Academy Awards® including Best Picture, Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.), Best Supporting Actress (Emily Blunt), Best Director (Christopher Nolan), Best Original Score (Ludwig Göransson), Best Cinematography (Hoyte van Hoytema), Best Adapted Screenplay (Christopher Nolan), Best Production Design (Ruth De Jong, Claire Kaufman), Best Costume Design (Ellen Mirojnick), Best Makeup and Hairstyling (Luisa Abel), and Best Film Editing (Jennifer Lame).
