FILM at LACMA presents classic and contemporary narrative and documentary films, artists and their influences, emerging auteurs, international showcases, special guest-curated programs, and conversations with artists and special guests.

LACMA members at the Supporter and Partner level are invited to join FILM at LACMA for a special screening of Elvis followed by a conversation with featured talent Austin Butler and director, producer, and co-writer Baz Luhrmann.

Luhrmann takes us on the moving journey of a rebel and an icon as America’s cultural landscape evolved over more than 30 years. Elvis celebrates the extraordinary life of a trailblazing artist, the loves and poignant losses he faced as a man, and the timeless music and groundbreaking performances he gave the world. The film explores how Presley’s unprecedented rise to fame was sparked by Svengali Colonel Tom Parker, whose shortcomings were also primarily responsible for the singer’s tragic demise.

This in-person screening will take place at an offsite theater. Location details will be shared in the email invitation. Capacity is limited and reservations are required.
