I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. I grew up loving the Wasatch mountains and developed a love for hiking, camping, skiing, and the like.

I craved the sound of a running stream, the wind through the pines and the sound of animals scurrying about their business.

The first time I visited the Pacific coast and ocean, I fell immediately in love and relocated to the Bay Area in my late teens. My love for ocean waves and the sound of waves crashing against the sand and rocks would become my relief in times of distress.

I began painting ocean waves because I find solace in them. I was also curious how to paint such a complex subject.

Although I’ve had a love for art and painting for as long as I can remember, I didn’t start painting seriously until my early thirties after my son was born. It gave me a way to capture beautiful moments and memories, placing them on canvases that I could view often.

My desire to paint grew rapidly and I continued to paint daily.

My husband and I spent our early marriage traveling, backpacking, hiking and camping. After spending so much time outdoors, I craved duplicating my love of nature on canvas.

I have been painting and teaching for seven years. I’m looking forward to increasing my skill and knowledge of studio oil painting and plein air painting.

Most of my work is completed in my art studio, but many are started outdoors on-site. My goal is to capture the emotion and atmosphere of the scene to provide what I experience to the viewer.

I have an obsession for light and color. My paintings often exaggerate them to favor brightness and hue. I have participated in art shows in the area and look forward to expanding my portfolio and collector base.
