I believe art is a seed, a spark, a study. Art is a spiritual path for me, a transformational process and a way of being. I explore as I create. The process of artmaking with a variety of techniques and styles has been a way to express my response to the world.
I was raised in New England, and played with the richness of oil painting from a young age. As I studied under master artists, a vibrant sense of movement, freedom and positive energy was planted in me.
When I was a young mother, I relocated to Florida. I chose the immediacy of soft pastels, which reflected the portraits and landscapes of the area. Subsequently I was elected as a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, recognized for my ability to take in inspiration, connect to it and make a response with the viewer.
My journey with acrylics began after my artwork began to be frequently exhibited nationwide, and I needed the art to travel well. I played with layering and using a resist-process. Whimsical dragonflies, birds and nature studies sparked my inspiration, and I created paintings for solo exhibitions, including one at the Lake County Museum of Art.
One of my images was selected as the winner of an international wine label contest for a limited edition “Artiste Wine” in California. I was honored and named the Best Artist in Florida by Baterby’s Art Auction Gallery and listed in Florida International Magazine’s Florida Artists Hall of Fame.

After I arrived in Texas, I shifted to more abstract art. I began to explore another transformation in my capabilities as an artist. Symbolism, movement and sgraffito became essential elements in my pieces. Oil paint sticks and water-soluble oils have also given voice to this abstract connection.
Painting is therapeutic and liberating. I paint as an explorer going on an inner journey. I disappear into the mystery and dig for what will unravel and reveal itself—new figures, new relationships, new ways of pushing paint. Scraping, blending, wiping, adding and subtracting while inviting flaws, trickles, blemishes and accidents as I create magic.
My studio is flexible to capture these sparks. Whether I am working on a six-foot or six-inch canvas, the pressure of my fingers alone to control the tonal movement in color is an intimacy between my body, my mind and the medium.
Throughout my life, I have had the profound experience of feeling a spark of connection with my subject, followed by the ability to respond in colors on a canvas. Those canvases have brought me the honor of being selected by Tamara Day of HGTV’s “Bargain Mansions” to showcase my artwork as well as a solo abstract show in Frisco, Texas.
Although having my artwork housed in permanent museum collections from Florida to Greece has been a wonderful accolade, I find it most rewarding when a seed of inspiration blooms into a treasured canvas that brings happiness, peace and delight in the hands of an art collector to study.
