In junior college I realized my true self as an artist. This led me to earn a BFA from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

Since then I’ve worked as a fine art painter, illustrator, graphic designer and muralist. In 2007, I began teaching drawing and painting to elementary school students in my Yes, You Can Draw/After School Art Enrichment Program.

“Hastings McKneeley” acrylic and collage, with coordinated painted edges, 24” x 24”

My entire career has been extremely rewarding, especially working with kids. I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to be a painter and share my creativity as an art teacher helping to shape young minds for a successful future.

“Blaze” acrylic and collage, with coordinated painted edges, 24” x 24”

I love to paint animals and am currently focused on my special DOERS of GOoD collection. The DOERS, each a very distinctive animal character, share a common quest—to do GOoD in this world. Each animal has an unusual name and makes a special contribution. This inspires others to help make the world a better place, one GOoD deed at a time.

“Naoko” acrylic and collage, with coordinated painted edges, 24” x 24”

I choose to portray My DOERS as animals to provide an approachable representation of life that unifies humans with our friends in the animal kingdom. Their contributions of GOoD, no matter how large or small, make a difference in the lives of us all.

“Dubby Snickett” acrylic and collage, with coordinated painted edges, 24” x 24”

I strive for consistency throughout the collection, while consciously retaining an uncommon look in my work. This effort results in some very original effects.

“Chief #2” acrylic and collage, with coordinated painted edges, 24” x 24”

I use acrylics that have a density much like oil painting in order to get a thick application and texture. My approach to color is one of the most important parts of my work. I strategically think through the placement of warm and cool colors to lead the viewer through the painting with the most impact and significance.

“Flaire” acrylic and collage, with coordinated painted edges, 24” x 24”

The composition and texture in my artwork come in a close second behind color in achieving the impact I want. I invite the viewer to take a closer look and fall in love.

Many collectors who take my paintings home to live with consider my DOERS of GOoD as new members of their family. I believe my characters will connect with their new “forever” family and that connection will last for generations. That is the best compliment I could ever hope for; it inspires me to keep the family growing. By doing so, I’m able to help make the world a better place to live as well!
