Ferrofluid lamp with insanely cool floaty magnetic goop

In what appears to be a new-age version of the ’60s lava lamp, designer Kyle Haines is magnetising the drippy liquid inside of the tube. In his Kickstarter project, he is raising money to produce a toy of sorts that allows you to manipulate encapsulated “goop” in ferrofluid using magnets.

The science behind the project is fascinating and involves tiny magnetic particles suspended in ferrofluid. The special conditions allow the fluid to stay suspended in the glass tube without sinking to the bottom. Very cool!

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.
