FF Chartwell, a font family designed to create simple diagrams.
After creating several graphs and charts for a business report in countless hours of work, Travis Kochel came up with the idea to develop a font family that gives you the possibility to simply write any diagram. The result is FF Chartwell, a family consisting of 7 typefaces to create the following types of diagrams: bars, vertical bars, lines, pies, radar, rings, and rose graphs. It’s so easy to create a simple diagram. Just type a series of numbers like: “5+20+12+35”, then turn on discretionary ligatures and the diagram is created. If you turn off discretionary ligatures you will see the original data again. This functionality requires software that supports OpenType features like Adobe’s Creative Suite. Its normal experience is based on a simple sans serif typeface in a subtle narrow style, which complements the different graphs perfectly.
This useful type family has received numerous awards such as the CommArts award in 2011, the Letter.2 award in 2011, the Information is Beautiful award in 2012, and the Fast Company Innovation By Design award in 2012.
