Fire department chief moonlights as exceptional portrait artist, paints famous icons as a hobby

So much can be said about Scott Ferguson, the chief of Murrieta’s Fire Department. For over 34 years, he has served in fire protection for seven different departments. Although he isn’t retiring anytime soon, we might have a good idea what he’ll be doing when he has all the time to spare. Ferguson was recently named Artist of the Month last December 2016 by the Murrieta Arts Council. This honor is aptly given because his talent, although only very little people know about it, is unprecedented.

Ferguson has painted icons such as Tom Selleck, Johnny Depp, Marilyn Monroe, Jimi Hendrix, Muhammad Ali, Morgan Freeman, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Wayne, Jay Leno, Demi Moore, Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson, and Robin Williams. However, his all time favorite, according to him, is that of his wife Maria in a pirate costume one Halloween. He says his next portrait is going to be of Johnny Cash.
