First Pablo Picasso and Alberto Giacometti exhibit in the Middle East opens in Doha, Qatar

An unprecedented exhibit featuring the works of Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) and Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966), two of the most renowned artists of the 20th century, opened at the Fire Station Artist in Residence in Doha, Qatar on Feb. 22 and will run until May 21. The Qatar exhibit, the first to show the works of the two masters in the Middle East, takes place almost right after the works were featured in a similar exposition at the Hôtel Salé in Paris, which took place from Oct. 4, 2016 until Feb. 5.

More than 80 paintings, drawings and sculptures by Picasso and Giacometti — who, despite having been born 20 years apart, had been associates — were taken from the collections of the Musée National Picasso and the Fondation Giacometti in Paris, as well as other institutions.
