Underneath an old, dilapidated railway bridge 15 minutes on foot away from Czech Republic’s city center is a disturbing black house suspended midair by steel cables. It is less of a living space and more of an installation art that houses a tiny living room, a loft for sleeping and a small stove. A ladder, which is hidden near the floating house, is the only access to the “Black Flying House” and urge passers-by to explore what is inside – if they’re not scared.
Designed and built by H3T Architects, the small dwelling is constructed using wood painted with black matte with rectangular windows and a gable roof. In the morning, the steel cables can be seen. At night time, however, it appears to look like a witch’s black hangout place. The suspended installation blends in with the monochromatic surroundings but somehow stands out because of its shape. While it is mysterious enough for passers-by to steer clear of it, some have actually gone up the house to see the inside for themselves.
