Floating cube installation projects massive shadow patterns

Many different media have been used to create artwork, but making art with shadows is an ephemeral and beautiful way to utilize a space. Mixed-media artist, Anila Quayyum Agha, produced the piece ‘Intersections’ from laser-cut wood panels. The cube itself is 6.5 feet in all dimensions, but the interior light source projects patterns onto walls that are more than 30 feet wide. The complex and ornate line work references the “geometrical patterning in Islamic sacred spaces,” shared the artist.

Anila Quayyum Agha is a Pakistan born artist who received an MFA in Fiber Arts from the University of North Texas. This piece is currently a finalist in the 3rd annual See.Me: Year In Review competition.
