Frames made from repurposed salvaged wood look like live branches of trees

When trees are cut down, some of the parts that will not end up in an industrial factory are either used as firewood or simply whither away and die. An artist from Oregon is recently being praised in the world of art for thinking of an ingenious and truly creative idea of repurposing old wood

Darryl Cox’s “Fusion Frames” are made from dead branches of trees that are found in local forests. During his walks, he would find many different kinds of wood but is always thrilled to work with his favorites: the California Grapevine, Pine, Aspen, Central Oregon Manzanita and Juniper, to mention a few. He combines the branches’ unique and haunting shape with intricately made frames and paints them over with stain to bring out the natural look of the wood. All of this combined, one frame piece looks like an object straight out of The Lord of the Rings fictional world.

According to his website, his project’s goal is to “bring together each’s (wood) attitude and personality and reflect it as one.”
