Photographer Jeffrey Vanhoutte and multimedia artist Babak Hosseiny have collaborated on a new series of photo illustrations called ‘O les Mains’ which translates from French into ‘O Hands.’
The disturbing sequence of computer manipulated photos explore the idea that hands are a symbol of a person’s wishes and fears. That idea was inspired by a sentence from the writings of philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein: “If you do know that here is one hand, we’ll grant you all the rest.” I don’t know what Wittgenstein meant, but these photos tap into something deep and frightening inside me. Creepy!
