Presented by the Visiting Artist, Scholar, and Designer (VASD) Program at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD), the World Building series invites you to attend free events featuring world-renowned creative leaders. In the midst of a pandemic and systemic reckonings, World Building reflects on the specific methods artists and designers are implementing to actively develop radical progress and novel solutions — and the results will inspire you.
The final guests of the series will be interdisciplinary artist and cultural producer Alisha B. Wormsley on March 16, 2021, and scholar Nico Wheadon on April 6, 2021. Past guests include Christine Sun Kim, Jacolby Satterwhite, and Liz Montague.

Alisha B. Wormsley’s work is about collective memory and the synchronicity of time, specifically through the stories of women of color, more specifically, Black Women in America. In her artist talk “ancient futurism, black witches, and time travel,” Wormsley will share how her artistic projects invite an exploration of dreams, ancient-future technologies, and ritual.
Wormsley will also have a solo exhibition installed in the Philip J. Steel Gallery in Denver, Colorado. The exhibition is scheduled to open in March 2021 and hopes to offer in-person viewings by appointment.
The series will conclude with Nico Wheadon, an independent art advisor, curator, educator, and writer. Wheadon is also a founder of bldg fund LLC, an innovation platform for BIPOC artists, entrepreneurs, and neighbors. She currently serves on the Board of Governors at the National Academy of Design and the Advisory Board for the Lubin School of Business Transformative Leadership Program.
Creative professionals, educators, students, and thinkers are all invited to attend these free virtual events. Registration is required.
