Freelance photographer Kito Fujio documents sculptural play equipment around Japan

After quitting his job as an office worker in 2005, Kito Fujio became a freelance photographer. His latest series documents cement-molded play equipment scattered around Japan.

Fujio has spent the last 12 years exploring various secluded and forgotten areas of Japan like rooftops of department stores, where you will typically find rides and games for children while their parents shop below.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

The sculptural play equipment in his new collection features swings, seesaws, slides, and more in the form of robots, roosters, and pandas (awe). Many of these play areas have been around since the 1930’s by architects like Isamu Noguchi, whose works can even be found halfway around the world at Piedmont Park in Atlanta.

Check out some of Fujio’s new photos below and find more on his website, where he also sells prints.
