French artist celebrates RIO 2016 with two large fabric murals

In honor of the Olympics, artist JR has unveiled two murals in Rio to celebrate the momentous occasion.

The French artist depicts Sudanese high jumper Mohamed Younes Idriss jumping over a 25-story apartment complex in the first piece. JR comments, “He missed out on qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympics but he is there somehow.”

In the second piece, a diver is suspended above Rio’s Barra neighborhood. JR uses a new technique for the murals where his signature  photography is printed on large fabric sheets stuck onto scaffolds.

Check out the murals below, and follow the artist on Instagram for more incoming murals.
