Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to have access to a charging station all the time even if you’re in the middle of literally nowhere? Junya Watanabe just made that possible. And he’s even nice enough to let you wear it.
The futuristic, functional coat Watanabe recently created is built in with solar power which allows users to charge their gadgets anytime, anywhere. The unique jacket boasts solar panels both on the back and in front and even has a concealed power pack. The coat is highly reminiscent of his Japanese roots that revolve around functionality and simplicity.
Watanabe is no stranger to avant-garde fashion. Currently known as the “menswear world’s most esoteric characters,” Watanabe earned his degree from Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo before studying under COMME des GARÇONS designer Rei Kawakubo.
The coat is priced at $2,480 a piece and is available for purchase at SSENSE.
