Giant ‘Unwoven Light’ reflective sculpture

This ‘Unwoven Light’ sculpture by artist Soo Sunny Park is currently taking up a huge space at Rice University’s art gallery. Using twisted fragments of chain-link fence as frames, Park fills the structure with hundreds of plexiglass squares. Each of these sculptures take almost ninety hours to complete! The piece instantly transforms the previously-blank space into a shimmering world of color for all to marvel at.

The theme of Park’s work often deals with the existence of different realities and idea of interstitial space, which can be compared the utility area between two floors of a building. Unwoven LIght, aims to bridge the gap between the two theoretical spaces.
