Glass artist envisions elements of wind and water

Glass sculptor Shayna Leib has worked predominantly creating relief pieces for a series titled Wind & Water. Speaking of these two elements, the artist says, “They possess no intrinsic color or form, yet we are innately aware of their presence vicariously through the objects they affect.”

Using the Venitian hot glass technique of creating cane, the artist layers colors of hot glass and then pulls it into rod-like forms. These rods are then slumped in a hot kiln to give each one a fluid form. Lastly, these pieces are cut and arranged into a frame to create a unified flowing piece.
