Glow-in-the-dark bike path inspired by Van Gogh’s “The Starry Night”

Vincent van Gogh’s classic painting ‘The Starry Night’ became a source of inspiration for Dutch design company Studio Roosegaarde in the form of a light-up bicycle path in his home province of Noord Brabant. The one kilometer-long Van Gogh-inspired path is covered in a coat of specially-developed paint, previously covered here, that gathers solar energy in daylight to glow in the dark at night. LEDs along the sides cast extra light for cloudy weather. The swirling patterns in blue are an instantly recognizable homage to his seminal 1889 painting.
