Goofy light paintings made on epic landscape backgrounds

We have seen light painting before, but none quite like the work of Darren Pearson. The photographer pays attention to every detail of the image, not getting lost in the excitement of the technique. He paints his goofy scenes on incredible scenic backgrounds.

To create these photos, Pearson sets the camera on a tripod and opens the shutter for 5-7 minutes. During this time, he leaps in front of the camera with a flashlight-like device and begins to draw in the air, guessing at his shapes and forms. The results are fun and surprisingly precise drawings on epic backgrounds.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

Pearson explains his inspiration: “I saw an old article from LIFE magazine on the collaboration between Pablo Picasso and Gjon Mili and the image ‘Picasso draws a centaur’. I was fascinated by the image and asked my friend how it worked; he explained long exposures to me.”
