Dan Lam creates goopy sculptural works that sparkle and shine…a lot.
The Dallas-based artist’s latest series is categorized into three types of goopy matter: Squishes, Drips, and of course Blobs. Each piece appears as if it’s ready to ooze from between books on a shelf or cracks and crevices on walls and in roads.

The sculptures are made out of polyurethane foam and acrylic paint with added shiny spikes. Lam tells Blackbook Gallery, “My work has always elicited pretty raw reactions from people, my favorite being the desire to touch the object, to make sense of it with another sense because just seeing it doesn’t satiate the curiosity.”
