Grace and Truth: an exploration of physical and metaphorical transformation

Who would have thought that time would be the main component for art?

Lisa Folino has never strived to make a perfect photograph, in fact, she has embraced the imperfections and accidents in the photographic process.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

The portfolio “Grace and Truth” is an exploration of physical and metaphorical transformation.
An accident occurred in the studio that caused what she thought to be severe damage to several shots she had taken. Folino threw them out, but retrieved them the next day and put them away.

As the days passed, the exposed in-camera image began to change, hence a new landscape appeared. A new world emerged from the original black background. In addition to the chemical process, time itself contributed to the changing images. Like a fossil unearthed the images are fragmented and degraded. As with a fresco’s aging plaster; the imagination is forced to fill in the voids. All of this work reflects her fascination with the meaning of time, its passage, and a desire to transcend time through her work.

These photographs, like the moving image, continue to change over time, as the past
makes it way into the present and future.
