Guess how this Star Wars mosaic was made… Seeing it up close will surprise you!

Chances are you’ve seen a mosaic in the last week. A beautifully colorful piece of wall art made of seashells, an intricate portrait cut together with stone, even your kitchen tiles are an example of the art form. This one is a bit different though. Homeboy Vader up there is made of over ten thousand multi-colored staples. I’m guessing this took more than a Saturday.

Award winning painter and print maker James Haggerty has never shied away from a new medium, and his latest art project ‘The Side’ shows us just that. So far, he’s completed mosaics of Darth Vader, C-3PO and Greedo in a meticulous process that has him stapling each tiny metallic brad by hand. Each mosaic is about 40in. x 32in. in size and formed on black painted boards. Art made with everyday items… This puts those duck tape dresses to shame!
