This Sleek Socket, by Häfele, is an odd compensatory device. It’s designed for the situation where you want to get a piece of furniture right up against a wall, but doing so blocks access to a power outlet you need; you could plug in a conventional power strip, but your furniture piece would need to move forward a few inches to compensate for the protruding plug. At some point this has happened to you with a bed, sofa, bureau, et cetera.

The Sleek Socket runs $24, and you could arguably accomplish the same thing with a $6.50 low profile flat plug and a power strip…
…but for the sticklers among you, Häfele’s offering visually neatens up the wiring for say, installing a wall-mounted TV.
