The artist probably is a big fan of Hermes and got the idea of turning the orange peels into baby footwear. He or she must have thought of a good way to put the abundant supply of orange peels, which were probably from the Chinese New Year, into good use. Oranges are really popular during this time of the year as it is believed to bring good luck.
