Honda makes downloadable car designs available for 3D printing

Honda has released downloadable designs of its concept cars, making it possible for you to create a replica on a 3D printer.

The designs were made available under the Creative Commons license, allowing the public to download and produce up to five cars. Available models include the NSX Concept (2013), Kiwami, Puyo (2007), Fuya-Jo (1999) and the FSR Concept (1994).

History has shown that technology moves quickly. Digital cameras have replaced film; streaming video has replaced VHS. Perhaps this is another turning point in technological innovation. The release of these designs sparks the question of printing a fully operable vehicle. Is the future coming soon?
