Husband and wife illustration makers are featured artists at the recent Disney WonderGround exhibition

When asked how their company, The Little Friends of Printmaking, came to be, husband and wife James and Melissa Buchanan reveal that their printing business started as a joke. Showing up at the recent Comic Con 2017 and eventually ended up in the WonderGround gallery show, the pair first decided to join forces back in art school where they were both taking printmaking classes at the University of Wisconsin.

Their work is child-like and playful, which is exactly the reason why clients such as Nike, Wired magazine, Target, and even Disney all love collaborating with the two. From colorful maps to banners and posters that humorously suggest profanity, their art can tickle the heart of a child out of anyone.

They have already turned their home in Pasadena into their very own workspace studio where they continue to make commercial illustration work for a growing list of clients. About 40 pieces of their work will be on display at the WonderGround Gallery at Downtown Disney for the whole month of July for the exhibit’s featured artist.
