Iconic architecture cleverly printed using bike tires

Thomas Yang makes art of famous architecture useing an unlikely process… printing with bike tread. The artist skillfully maneuvers the tire to form each element of the buildings. Using just the edge of the tread creates a thin patterned line and using the flat surface creates thick, industrial marks.

At first, your emotional response to the iconic places overshadows the unique method of production. The surprise upon realizing they are made using tires is what makes these images so engaging. In the prints below, you will find landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Tower Bridge, China’s Forbidden City, and The Empire State Building.
