Indiana artists create beautiful miniature libraries for book-sharing initiative

The Indianapolis Public Library recently partnered artist Rachel M. Simon to launch the Public Collection, a program aimed at introducing nine artist-designed mini-libraries containing free books. Simultaneously, the effort also works to highlight the work of Indiana artists. The most brilliant design was created by Brian McCutcheon, titled “Monument”.

With multiple light-green pillars, each equipped with a cylindrical glass shelf, the design is a literal manifestation of Mark Twain’s famous quote, “A public library is the most enduring of memorials, the trustiest monument for the preservation of an event or a name or an affection.”
