Our elders can be a source of endless inspiration so that we can improve our own lives and each other’s. That’s exactly what designer Sha Yao is doing for patients of dementia.
Inspired by her grandmother, a patient with Alzheimer’s disease, industrial designer Sha Yao spent days and nights coming up with a solution to help dementia patients maintain a healthy diet. The result is Eatwell custom tableware designed to make it easier for patients to feed themselves.
The design interventions, of which there are many, include color-coded utensils and angled bowls with 90-degree rims which allow food to collect on one side. Watch the video below for a detailed look at all of Eatwell’s features and support Yao’s work on IndieGogo.
