Intricate and organized— Flowing installations made from paper

Sculptor Daniele Papuli has his own way of working with paper. Layering strips of paper into intricate patterns, the material takes on a softness and fluidity when it’s combined into forms. The site-specific installations that he calls “Sculptographies” are sometimes only a few inches high, and represent a flowing form that is not unlike a pool of rippling water or a velvety piece of fabric.

Discussing his use of paper as a medium, Papuli said, “I was fascinated by light and thick textures, by the structural potentialities of surfaces, by this matter – alive, vibrating, changeable.”
