Japanese Film Festival Online 2022 Streams Free Through February 27

Explore the various facets of Japanese culture through film at Japanese Film Festival Online 2022, streaming for free from February 14 to February 27. Over 20 movies spanning a wide range of genres and subject matter, from documentaries and animation to period dramas and classic works of cinema, are available in 25 countries during this two-week period.

Japan Foundation created the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) to share Japanese cinema with the world. From November 2020 to March 2021, the first-ever JFF Online was held in 20 countries across five continents, streaming a total of 30 films to audiences around the world.

For its second year, JFF is expanding to 25 countries, focusing on areas where access to Japanese cinema is limited. Nepal, Bangladesh, Argentina, Ecuador, and Peru have been added to this year’s festival. Viewers located in countries where the online festival takes place will be able to watch 20 films for free, with subtitles in 15 languages. These are available to stream for 48 hours from the moment you hit “Play.” On the last day (February 27), all streaming will end at 11:59pm (PST).

In addition to movies, the festival plans to produce a variety of content related to Japanese cinema, such as events and special feature articles on the JFF+ website.
