Celebrate L.A.’s finest jazz musicians! Jazz at LACMA is presented Friday evenings from April to November.
Saxophonist Azar Lawrence has composed, produced, and performed with such acclaimed jazz luminaries as McCoy Tyner and Elvin Jones. Lawrence started his career when he was 17 playing with Clark Terry and Muddy Waters on overseas tours, and went on to record and write for such diverse artists as Freddie Hubbard, Busta Rhymes, and Roberta Flack. Lawrence’s band, The Azar Lawrence Experience (TALE) has been busy touring following the vinyl reissue of Lawrence’s 1976 classic recording Summer Solstice.
