Graduating with a degree in photojournalism from the University of South Wales, it’s no surprise that most of Jonathan Browning’s work revolves around documentation of certain issues and topics. In his recent project, he sheds light into the gap that divides China’s rich and poor.
Browning traveled to China back in 2007 expecting to discover new adventures in the world of photography. He had so much fun that he decided to stay and enhance his skills as a freelance photographer. His works have been published worldwide including international magazines such as Foreign Policy Magazine, The Australian, Harvard University, and Financial Times. He has also been invited to exhibit in known galleries in London, Brighton, and in China.

Fluent in Chinese himself, Browning would ask construction workers during their lunch break to stand in front of a luxury billboard in China. This led him to create a perfect series of comparative photographs that depict the effects of economic growth on the rich and the poor.
