Unsurprisingly Balenciaga put on quite the memorable event for their 51st Couture show in Paris, giving the coterie of fashionistas sitting shoulder-to shoulder a celebrity-filled parade of models that included Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid, and Kim Kardashian donning the label’s latest collection. Beyond the celebrity factor, the show will be most remembered for its incorporation of dystopian face shields designed by Mercedes-AMG F1 Applied Science accessorized with a surprising collaboration: the Balenciaga | Bang & Olufsen Speaker Bag, a fully functional portable speaker in the shape with the function of a purse.

The bag’s form isn’t just aesthetic, offering the utility of a real purse; the internal compartment is made from Balenciaga’s Italian lambskin leather. Speaker controls are situated under the handle, with Balenciaga’s and Bang & Olufsen’s logos laser etched into the top of each piece.
The perforated speaker front of the Balenciaga I Bang & Olufsen Speaker Bag subtly communicates this is no regular purse, with an actual functional compartment wrapped in Balenciaga’s Italian lambskin leather, assembled by hand to keep precious possessions within.
The fortunate twenty owners of the Balenciaga x Bang & Olufsen Speaker Bag will have up to 18 hours of battery life of wireless connectivity playback per charge to enjoy alongside the satisfaction of exclusivity.
Only 20 of these limited-edition speaker purses are being made, each milled from a block of solid aluminum, then pearl-blasted, anodized, and hand-polished at Bang & Olufsen’s Factory 5 in Struer, Denmark, before being deliver to Balenciaga’s newly opened Couture store in Paris.
